  1. In the case of proposition 16, I would vote yes on proposition 16 because as a future voter, I would like the opportunity to be part of the 2/3 votes and be able to choose what electric company I choose. Being from the neighborhood of Encanto,I know that this proposition can bring me more opportunity to choose how much I pay for my electricity and it is helpful during this economic downturn. When voting yes on this proposition, I will take part of the 2/3 and hopefully this will pass but it if doesn't, then the vote will go on and I am able to re-vote in the next election. Choosing my own electricity company, then I get to choose if I still want to stay with SDG&E or if I would like to move on to a better or beneficial company. Seeing that the name of the proposition is long, then many people might disregard this proposition and might not choose to vote neither for or against meaning that it has a bigger chance of passing and getting the 2/3 majority.

  2. I would vote yes for this proposition because I believe that is is the responsibility of the people to choose the Electricity company they want to have. It should take more than a simple majority to select something as important as the Electricity provider because it is something that the people will have to pay for and therefore, they should be the ones to chose. I agree with Joanna when she said that people would be more encouraged to come vote if the price of their electricity is in the line. This is because no one wants to pay excessive fines for electricity when it is something that they can possibly control. If everyone or a large majority agrees about a certain electricity provider, then the decision is more fair and the process more democratic.

  3. I would vote No on this propostion because we elected the officals in the government in the first place. It is our constitutional right to have the right to choose our own choices i.e. companies, etc, I agree with that sentiment. Yet I also believe in a democracy, in which, those who are elected serve a purpose, and if their purpose is to choose what company we have based on the overall benefit of the state then so be it. If I voted yes and alot of people voted yes, then in general they would have a monopoly of electrical powerplants with various little branches. Though I have no say in voting in California currently, since this is my home state I would vote No to protect it.

  4. In regards to proposition 16 I would vote yes. I made this decision because I think the allowance of the 2/3 vote of the public to choose their electricity company is essential to everybody in society. Especially during hard economic times people should be allowed to choose the electricity company that they will pay for, especially since some electricity companies can be cheaper. I think that voting yes on proposition 16 is an important step towards people having a voice in choosing their own electricity company.

  5. If I could vote on this proposition, I would vote no on this proposition because it makes me a little skeptic about who supports and endorses this Proposition, which are the big private electric companies. I do not want them to have more power with legislators because that might cause problems for Americans, later on in the future with these private electric companies. So if I could vote, I would vote no on this proposition.

  6. I would vote NO on Proposition 16 because I think those who support this Prop are greedy companies that do not want competition. If the two-thirds vote is passed, it will make it hard for new companies to be established. Without competition, companies can inflate their price without any consequences since there are no competitions.

  7. I voted yes on this proposition because it is the decision of the person on how they will spend their money for their electricity. I believe that it is their own decision and if its their money, why should other people decide how they spend it? I think by voting yes on this proposition people would become mroe aware of what is going on because their money and electricity is on the line.

  8. I would vote yes on proposition 16, just because of the fact that the people have the opportunity to vote. Even though Jose argued that the two-thirds vote would be problematic, in reality it's all up to the voters. If this gets passed, this means that they people know that they have to vote, giving them no more reasons to complain. Aside from that, this proposition lessens the power of these huge companies, which i believe is a good thing. The people have the right to know where the money is going, not have it secretly circulated by these companies.

  10. I would vote no on Proposition 16. I think it would make it too difficult for a region to switch providers with this implemented. Let's say a majority of 60% wanted to change providers, they would not be allowed to because of this proposition. In this situation, it would be the minority group winning and making the decision of who provides energy for everyone else. Should 40% of the population decide for everyone? I don't think so. Furthermore, I feel that PG&E supports this proposition only to maintain itself as the major provider. It is trying to secure its position by not letting upcoming providers gain regions.

  11. I would vote no on Proposition 16. I think it gives too much power to large electric services. It is a business that only benefits its own corporation instead of peoples interest. I think the government should regulate and create smaller businesses and let the public have choice in what they want. so for those reasons I would vote no on Prop 16.

  12. For Proposition 16 I would vote no because it would create a 2/3 vote system. A 2/3 vote would be recieved by local governments becuase they could spread thier electricity. I would also vote no because it would increase taxes and lower competition among electric companies. It would decrease competition in the way that one electric company would be dominant since they wouldn't be voted out becuase of the 2/3 vote. since one company is dominant then they lower thier prices at firs so that more people buy from them, but once they are in complete power they raise the prices once again. This is why I would vote no on Proposition 16.

  13. in the case of rop 16 i would vote yes on the proposition because as future voter i would like to be given the opportunity to e part of the 2/3 votes that the act is provididng. i feel that these hard economic times were brought forht mainly becasue copanies were not being regulated enough by the government and proposition 16 would do somethingn to provide the average citizen a chance to participate in what kind of energy they are provided with. this is why i would vote yes on prop 16.

  14. In regards to Proposition 16, I would have voted no because of the long run consequences. Although it seems that it would be a good idea, after the long procedures for everyone to change for their electricity. The fact that this proposition also creates a 2/3 vote system, and this causes the local communities to change their electricity completely. Their would also be a lot of taxing towards electricity, and this would effect everyone. I can also predict that many of the electric companies are going to go out of business while only a few companies are going to have almost all control. This will cause many people to get unemployed. This at first sounds like it is a good proposition, but in a more in debt look this has too many flaws.

  15. Walfred- Iwould vote no on proposition 16. The fact that a large gas and electric company is investing millions of dollars for this proposition to pass raises a red flag for me. Though it would be beneficial in the begening in the long run it could be a way for large monopolies to be form. Monopolies with no competitors to keep their prices check

  16. If I were to vote on Prop 16, I would vote yes. I believe that it is up to the citizens to choose who they want to be their electrical provider. I believe that since it is the citizens expense, they have the right to pay which ever provider they choose. -Jerome Sanders

  17. I would vote no. because its very difficult to get a two third vote and i think it only benifits these big companies, thats why it is funded and endorsed by PG&E.

  18. I would vote yes on this proposition. Providing a completely new energy system is a big deal and community members need to be informed, especially if they are interested in how efficient the company is and the company's history. The main issue here is that the enrgy provider would be consuming public funds that technically belongs to the people as a whole, it is fair that a majority of the people agree with the system, especially if the prices for other things would be raised because their existing money is going to electricity.

  19. I voted no on this proposition because i thought that it was unfair that it would eliminate competition because other electtric companies because PG&E is one of the biggest and most powerful companies. Even though it would require a two thirds vote, i would not want this company to occupy new lands. I would much rather prefer it to stay in the area it already is in. I would want my energy companies to continue working where they are rather that building them in new lands.

  20. In my opinion,I'd vote NO for Prop 16 because it doesn't allow for other companies to expand. The people who are for prop 16 seem like they don't want any other companies to join the industry. So,if Prop 16 is passed then the companies who are out there right now have a lot of power and can manipulate everyone if there aren't any businesses that are coming in.

  21. I am a strong believer in laisezz faire. If i had a business i wouldn't want the government having any involvement in my business. Also disagree with the prop because majority is how the voting system works, not 2/3rd system. For presidential voting the president who win has majority (example 51% of votes). Government intervention is unecessary unless the monopolies are being unfair to customers.

  22. I would vote yes for prop 16 because in the future when I vote and pay for my eletricity,I want to have a say in what company I can use. And since prop 16 gives the majority to 2/3 of voters, I know that my vote can make a difference in being part of that 2/3.

  23. After listening to this presentation I would have to say yes to proposition 16 because first off it could possibly decrease the bill of electricity. Being that I am going to be on my own in a couple of years and bills would be the most important thing I would like them to be low as possible. By passing this prop I will be given a larger voice in the local governement which is always nice because the power should be with the people. It might not allow competition but will all be paying the same low cost.

  24. I would vote yes on Proposition 16. As a future voter, I feel that I will be able to vote on all aspects that could potentially influence my life. I would also vote yes on Prop. 16 because I will be able to vote on the type of gas and electric company for my house. Also, I will be able to take control over my vote by this propsition and not have someone else do it for me. I feel that voting no on Proposition 16 will give too much power to the big companies such as Pacific Gas and Electric and I will not be in control of my vote nor the company of my choice.

  25. As for proposition 16 I would vote no because it would increase the the taxes and lower the competition for the electricity companies. Besides the fact the companies are manipulated bu a even larger company which makes me wonder that these large corporations are just trying to to find ways to get more money. This proposition would also make a 2/3 system which would mean the government would have most of the power to decide who gets what service. This would mean that citizens do not have the right to choose what electric company they want to be part of.
